Presentation: Assisted Living Occupancies Requirements (12:00p - 1:00p):

 Tom will be discussing the building and fire code requirements for new and existing Housing with Services Establishments providing Assisted Living Services. Topics will include occupancy classifications (Group R-2, R-3, R-4 and I-1), fire alarm and fire sprinkler requirements and locking arrangements.

Tom Jenson had 31 years in the fire service at Edina with 12 years as Fire Marshal retiring in August of 2012. Tom was hired part time by the State Fire Marshal Division in April 2013 to research two projects, one being Housing with Services Assisted Living code requirements and their locations throughout Minnesota and make recommendations to the State Fire Marshal for a possible inspection team in the future. In December of 2013 Tom was hired full time by the SFMD as the code specialist. Tom has also been a member of the MSFCA fire code committee since 2003 and involved in the development of the 2003, 2007 and 2015 Minnesota State Fire Code.

 The museum is located at the intersection of 22nd Ave NE & Madison St NE, between Edison High School Athletic Field to the east and the train tracks to the west.

Parking: Free parking is available via a small lot for the museum and by on-street parking.

                Browsing and wandering the museum is encouraged.
